Iowa Officials Speak Out On Trump's Tariffs On Chinese Goods

Concerns over a possible trade war with China is on the minds of officials in Iowa.

Senator Joni Ernst has harsh words for President Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods.

The Republican Senator from Iowa says the tariffs "are nothing more than a tax on Iowa farm families."

Governor Kim Reynolds is also addressing the topic.

"We'll reach out to the administration this week and so we will be talking to cabenet members and the administration again and tell them the same thing, that our farmers want to work with you but we need to get something done because we, they produce and we have a fragile economy," Reynolds said. "Things are going really well and we want to continue that momentum and not go backwards."

President Trump says he'll impose tariffs on an additional $200 billion in goods from China in addition to tariffs announced earlier.
