State education leaders have approved a plan to renovate the Dakota Dome on the University of South Dakota's campus.
The South Dakota Board of Regents unanimously approved the plan at its meeting on Tuesday, which will still require approval from lawmakers in Pierre.
The plan would use $14.5 million from bond proceeds guaranteed by the USD Foundation, $6.41 million from the school's local funds, and $5.4 million from an annual renovations fund provided by the BOR.
The project includes upgrades to the locker rooms and bathrooms as well as adding permanent seats to the west side of the field.
According to the facility plan, the renovation will update the DakotaDome to meet ADA, Title IX, and fire code requirements.
