With all the rain this week, you may be looking for an activity to do with the kids indoors.
The fit Zone at the Washington Pavilion will keep your kids active even when the weather isn't cooperating.
From a dance game to virtual reality, the fit Zone at the Washington Pavilion has something for everyone.
"It's just been so rainy and it's just nice to have a place to go where we can go inside, not so muddy," Sarah Deboer said.
Sarah Deboer says exhibits like these not only help her daughter burn some energy, it's also educational.
"I want her to have a healthy lifestyle. I want her to grow up knowing what healthy is and not having some of those bad habits," Deboer said.
Through a partnership with Sanford, the fit Zone at the Pavilion is designed to teach kids about the importance of being healthy, getting exercise and most importantly having fun.
"We always try to be educational with our science. So families and kids can come out and understand how your body and mind and it all works. I think the other thing is just physically getting interaction and just running around," Washington Pavilion Director of Exhibits & Collections Jason Folkerts said.
Folkerts says the area includes about 8 to 12 hands-on activities.
The fit Zone offers multiple activities, but the Pavilion tells us the rock wall seems to be the favorite.
"We also have ways in which you can kind of talk a little bit about the number of calories that you're in-taking in your body being it sugars or whatnot," Folkerts said.
Folkerts says the exhibit draws in all age groups, but tends to attract mostly kids ages 5 to 13-years-old.
"Making sure that we educate young people, while they're young develop healthy habits and exercise for their life and certainly Sanford is promoting that every day," Folkerts said.
