Bryan Miller Signs On With Summit League

Sioux Falls

This past May, the Summit League announced it will be moving its home in Illinois to right here in Sioux Falls.

And now we know about an important addition to the league's staff.

Sioux Falls Sports Authority's  Executive Director Bryan Miller is leaving his post to become the Commissioner of Championships for the Summit League.

After locking down the tournament in Sioux Falls for its 10th anniversary, he's ready to be a part of the league that's put Sioux Falls on the map.

Miller's past experiences are coming together for his next gig.

"It's kind of blended the past two jobs I've done over the past few years into one," Miller said.

As the Sports Authority's Executive Director, to his past at Augustana University, he's ready for his new role with the Summit League.

Miller says he's most excited to get back to working with college athletes on a personal level.

But he's also using his Sports Authority experience, to elevate the league to national exposure.

"Hopefully kind of broaden the reach of the Summit League across the nation and prove that we are a top Division I conference in the nation and we are deserving of that," Miller said.

Kevin Lampe, chairman of the Sports Authority's board, says despite the loss, the foundation is laid for future success.

"But we know we're on stable footing, we're in good financial shape, and that good things are ahead," Lampe said.

That includes finding Miller's replacement.

"Now that we've got history, successful history, we're going to attract better candidates as well," Lampe said.

As for Miller, he's still committed to making Sioux Falls a hub for sports.

"I will still be helping out with the sports scene and making it as strong as we can for the City of Sioux Falls, at the same time helping the members across the Summit League reach their goals," Miller said.

Miller, along with the Summit League, will move into their temporary home until a permanent building becomes a part of the Sanford Sports Complex.

On Sunday, Inside KELOLAND will look into how the Summit League as well as tournaments like Sanford International are making Sioux Falls a hot destination for tournaments and fans alike.

That will air Sunday night after our 10 p.m. newscast.
