A police spokesperson said the number of tickets written and arrests during a recent saturation patrol in Sioux Falls were normal.
From 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, eleven additional officers were patrolling the city for impaired drivers. Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said seven drivers were arrested for DUI during the patrol and 87 tickets were issued.
Among the citations given, 20 drivers were cited for speeding. Clemens said 13 drivers were ticketed for not having a license or for having a revoked or suspended license. Nineteen other drivers were cited for not having insurance.
While the numbers were typical, Clemens said there were enough people driving badly that officers stayed busy.
