The White House is launching its first public service campaign with a series of new advertisements aimed at warning young people about the dangers of opioids. The new ads are part of an effort to turn the tide against the deadly epidemic.
The White House is joining with several partners, including the Ad Council, to release four new ads featuring true stories of young people who have battled addiction. The ads will air on television and across digital and social media platforms.
Officials say they expect the donated ad time to be at least $30 million. About 46,000 people died in drug overdoses involving opioids in the year ending last October.
