Dakota Wesleyan had yet to win a national championship, but on Tuesday, the Tigers played in their second NAIA DII national title game and their first since 2003.
DWU met GPAC rival Concordia in the title tilt.
Opening quarter Tigers were down one as Rylie Osthus pushes it up court and gives to Ashley Bray. The senior buried 3 of her 21 points, helping the Tigers to a 21 to 14 lead after one quarter.
From there DWU catches fire, Osthus loses the ball on the break, regains control then dishes to Chesney Nagel, and the Avon grad cashes in for 3, she puts the Tigers up 33-19.
Later in the 2nd, Osthus collects another assist as she goes cross court to Kynedi Cheeseman, she'll connect from deep, 40 to19 Tigers at half.
3rd quarter more of the same from DWU as Cheeseman finds Sarah Carr who spots up from beyond the arc and splashes in the 3. DWU's cruising, 55 to 28.
Next DWU possession, Cheeseman will take the handoff, drive through the lane, hoop and the harm, she had a game high 26 en route to MVP honors.
