Citi will be building a new home for its headquarters in Sioux Falls.
Company spokesperson Mark Rodgers called the planned facility "state of the art," but its exact location has not been announced.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard thanked the company Tuesday in a statement issued by his office of economic development.
“I thank Citi for renewing its investment in Sioux Falls by building a new, state-of-the-art facility," Daugaard said. "Citi has been an important corporate citizen in South Dakota for more than three decades and this announcement means they will be in Sioux Falls for decades to come.“
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Rodgers says the new location will better fit the tech needs of the company.
Citi employs 1,800 people in Sioux Falls, 1,600 of which work on campus. The company built its first headquarters back in the 1980s.
